Veronica Deren, 96, of 103 Perrine St., passed away Sunday, 11 July 2010, at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, New York, following a brief illness. She was born in Auburn, the eldest daughter of immigrants Joseph and Victoria Fronczek. “Aunt Vera” was a communicant of St. Hyacinth Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She worked for many years as a self-employed chef in Manhattan, Cooperstown, and Cato. Surviving is her son, Thomas and his wife, Ruth Deren, of Central Islip; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, in St. Hyacinth Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Veronica may be made to Mother Angelica, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210-2164. Arrangements are by Nicpon Funeral Home, Auburn.
